Simon, who owns Killer Melts on 12310 SW 127 Ave.In Kendall, he opened the food area of 6,500 square feet next to the entrance of the mall by Sunset Drive.The first wave of concept restaurants were popular suburban places with local followers, such as the Peruvian restaurant.Limón, Simon Sandwiches's own place and the Calvo’s Cracked chicken chicken place.Calvo's restaurant turned out to be so popular that he opened an independent place for two blocks.

The food area also housed a karaoke, a bar and a space for private events.But the problems began seriously with the pandemic, when the restaurants were forced to close to stop the propagation of the coronavirus.The reality of a virus that spreads indoors made a covered food area a less attractive place for diners.
Simon was able to get a condomable federal loan through the payroll protection program in April 2020.

Restaurants in Yumptell tried to be creative.Chef Brian Hill was one of the first to try to serve meals with social distancing in his Comfort Kitchen, outside the food area, but the police quickly prevented him.
