The rumors that haunted the fashion industry in recent days were true: Donatella Versace and Kim Jones (creative director of Fendi) have come together in a special collaboration that they have presented this Sunday as part of Fashion Week. Milan Fashion. Fendace is a reality and confirms that fashion is looking for new formulas.
If there is a brand capable of generating expectations in matters of virality, it is, without a doubt, Versace. Donatella knows how to create buzz for a collection and go viral on social media. For this reason, their parades usually have the presence of great celebrities and unforgettable moments that break the Internet in a fleeting way; Jennifer López parading with a reinterpretation of the green dress that she wore at the 2000 Grammys, the meeting of the supermodels of the 90s in the spring of 2018 who marched to the sound of the song 'Freedom' by George Michael, or the most Recently, Dua Lipa in the parade of the spring / summer 2022 collection. After the Versace parade held on September 24, Donatella promised that there was more and the rumors began to persist.
The second fashion show took place in Milan, specifically at the Versace headquarters in Via Gesù, and featured an impeccable front row: Dua Lipa, Demi Moore, Ester Expósito, Jon Kortajarena, Chiara Ferragni, Anna Dello Russo and Winnie Harlow, among many others, were among the guests. The show began with the Medusa, the unmistakable symbol of Versace, crowning every corner of the space. The models paraded as if it were any Versace parade. However, the distinctive print of Fendi was impregnated in the characteristic pieces of Versace, the logos were mixed with each other, the DNA of both Italian houses was evident in each piece. The words on the belts left no room for doubt: Fendace is real. Kate Moss and Amber Valetta closed the show and (to everyone's surprise) Kim Jones came out to say hello. But that is not all; when it seemed that the presentation had come to an end, the Versace logos on the walls do a 180º turn and reveal the Fendi logo. The music plays again. The models paraded to the tune of Drake's 'Way 2 Sexy' in trench coats with the Fendi print and the Versace logo on the back. The symbols and characteristics of the two Italian houses merged resulting in garments and accessories that mix the best of each one. A complete creative exchange in which Kim Jones designed the Versace collection and Donatella Versace the Fendi collection. Hence the name of the collaboration; The swap.
The strong point of the collections? Iconic accessories that we will sigh for the next spring-summer 2022 season and that have a high chance of becoming absolute viral trends. Jewels that fuse both logos, mini bags, the aforementioned Fendace belt, scarves with the brands' prints, high-heeled sandals adorned with sequins and appliqués... Modern and elegant pieces that will connect perfectly with the new generations. The collections will be available from May exclusively in Fendi and Versace boutiques.
