A confusing shooting at the popular Aventura Mall in the city of Miami has caused at least five people to be taken to the hospital, police reported this afternoon.
After the shots broke out, three victims suffered injuries that, however, have not been life-threatening. Police reported that several people have been detained for questioning about the case.
Dozens of customers and store employees remained hidden inside the premises while the shots were fired. Others shared images and videos on social networks.
The Aventura Police reported the arrests.
According to the latest police report, two groups of people were fighting in the mall when the shooting started.
A member of one of the groups drew a pistol and another individual from the other group responded and fired. He said the injuries were not life-threatening for the three wounded, according to Michael Bentolila, a police spokesman for the town of Aventura, 17 miles north of Miami. (I)
