Comments13An ode to emancipation and subversive seduction. This is the new spring-summer 2022 collection by Yves Saint-Laurent, which the firm presented within the framework of Paris Fashion Week with an unexpected protagonist: Rocío Jurado.
Anthony Vaccarello, the brand's creative director, seems to have been inspired by La Más Grande as a woman with an independent, free, energetic spirit and who does not care about prejudices, when creating garments full of games of volumes, extra-large costume jewellery, brightly colored gloves that break the sobriety of a dress, asymmetrical lines, dizzying necklines and transparencies. Some specialized media point out that these designs would have delighted the mother of Rocío Carrasco.
The extremely marked shoulders and the volumes of the sleeves contrast with the ultra-tight jumpsuits in this proposal. The blazers, sometimes as a dress, in others as the only companions for high-waisted pants and flared hems are the other great protagonists. They could not miss the imposing vertigo heels with huge platforms.
Rock and roll was transformed with flamenco chords during the parade until the sound of Se nos romó el amor by Rocío Jurado covered by Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. Paris and Spain hand in hand once again in a Saint Laurent parade.
In 1977 the firm already evoked 'his Spain' with a successful collection in which gypsy airs, ruffles and flower prints prevailed. Now Vaccarello takes up this bet with the Chipionera singer as muse.
