Paris, one of the most important capitals for the world of fashion, hosts from this Monday a new edition of its famous Haute Couture week. After the health situation caused by the coronavirus, little by little we see how the 'new normality' is spreading and has reached the fashion industry.

This week of Haute Couture will take place from this Monday, July 5 to July 8, and there will be a total of 8 live fashion shows, which means a greater offer of catwalks than in the rest of the editions that have been so far of year. 33 renowned fashion houses will be the participants in this Parisian edition to give birth to the collections for the fall/winter 2021/2022 season.

Shows by Chanel, Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Giorgio Armani, Zuhair Murad, Jean Paul Gaultier, Vaishali S and Pyer Moss Couture are noted on the calendar. The big surprise is the parade of the Balenciaga house that rejoins Haute Couture after more than half a century of inactivity in this field.

Of the 33 participating 'maisons', Schiaparelli was the fashion house in charge of opening this edition with Daniel Roseberry's designs for his 'Matador Couture' collection inspired by bullfighting fashion and the Italian brand's own extravagance.

The Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion (FHCM) is the entity in charge, like every year, of preparing the event. Its president, Ralph Toledano, expressed the Federation's enthusiasm for the organization of this new season in this way: “Like everyone else, I am delighted with the resurgence of a significant number of physical parades. The most prestigious brands always surprise me by the strength of each aspect of their fashion shows: the creativity of the garments; the know-how of its ateliers; the places; the models and the casting... And for the arrival of new designers, who want to express their talent and their dreams without limits; exploring new territories in terms of sustainability, circular economy or digitization”. In a statement, the FHCM clarified that in this edition "fashion houses can organize physical shows and presentations [...] depending on the evolution of the health situation."

This hybrid format of physical shows, digital shows and fashion films has already been successful for FHCM in the last edition of the Paris Men's Fashion Week that took place at the end of June.
