Last April, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced its intention to bring back the in-person shows at New York Fashion Week. After seeing the evolution of vaccination against Covid-19 and analyzing the current health situation in the country, the organization has confirmed that the edition, which will take place from September 8 to 12, will feature live shows.

This has been revealed in a publication on his Instagram profile, where he has also detailed how the 'fashion week' will be held in just a few weeks. This edition will feature the participation of 91 designers and fashion firms, including Altuzarra and Thom Browne, who are returning to the New York catwalk after parading for a few years in Paris.

There will also be names like Michael Kors, Tom Ford, Jason Wu or Carolina Herrera, who will celebrate her 40 years in the industry with a parade on September 9. On the contrary, traditional brands such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger have declined to participate in this edition. "New York Fashion Week is back with a diverse lineup representing the future of American fashion," CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said in a statement.

The New York catwalk will have a completely renewed edition after some editions with the hybrid format -face-to-face and virtual parades- due to the global pandemic. In addition, it should be remembered that last February the CFDA took the opportunity to redefine 'fashion week' as the 'Calendar of American Collections' to support emerging designers. “The CFDA's primary mission statement since its inception in 1962 has been to promote American fashion both domestically and abroad. Now more than ever this is one of our main objectives”, said Tom Ford, president of the organization.

Another of this year's great attractions is that New York Fashion Week will be the prelude to the Met gala, which will once again roll out its red carpet at the well-known New York museum on September 13.
