In a world dominated by custom algorithms and endless content offerings, a South Korean series with the vague name of “The Squid Game” is now the most watched fiction in 90 countries and is on its way to becoming Netflix's biggest hit. Its protagonists, Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo and HoYeon Jung, among others, have become a great advertising claim for fashion brands and firms that fight to have their face in one of their campaigns; especially the latter.
In the fiction she plays Kang Sae-byeok, player number 067, a North Korean defector who enters the game to get money to find and recover her surviving family members trapped in North Korea; but in the real world HoYeon Jung is a young model and actress from Seoul, South Korea, who at 27 years old is already enjoying the sweetness of success thanks to her debut in the series that has made her world famous.
A model since she was 16 years old
Despite her short career on the big and small screen, Jung can boast of being the most followed Korean actress on Instagram with more than 17 million followers. Although what truly defines the interpreter is her extensive experience as a model and that is that she began her journey on the catwalks when she was only 16 years old.
She participated in the fourth season of the program 'Next Top model Korea' where she won second place, her face has starred on several covers of fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle or Harper's Bazaar and she has walked the runway at Fashion Week of Seoul, as well as for countless luxury brands including Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Dolce&Gabbana, Jacquemus or Burberry, among many others.
In addition, her image has starred in several fashion campaigns for Sephora, Chanel, Hermès or Adidas. And the last to sign her as a global ambassador of the brand has been Louis Vuitton, so we can see her advertising her clothes, jewelry and watches.
Her beauty and great acting and modeling skills have managed to win over not only viewers of 'El Juego del Squid' but also designers and fashion firms. Vogue magazine has dubbed her "Korea's next top model", but with complete certainty we can say that we are facing the 'it girl' of the moment.
