Glamor, extravagance, and the best outfits will take place at Spring/Summer 2022 Fashion Week in New York with the return of shows on a runway with an audience and the presence of big names like Tom Ford and Altuzarra.
From September 8-12, this year's Met Gala will be hosted by singer Billie Eilish, actor Timothee Chalamet, poet Amanda Gorman and tennis star Naomi Osaka.
Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, said they remain resilient and optimistic "there is real optimism, energy and excitement about the return of live shows."
According to Kolb, "a large percentage" of the 91 official events will take place outdoors, and some continue to rely on digital presentations. He though he insisted that «he has no concern that the impact will not reach the international audience. It will just catch up to them,” virtually.
The week kicks off on Monday, September 6 with the Metropolitan Museum of Art Fashion Extravaganza, a high point in the city's social calendar. On Tuesday the founder of Collina Strada, Hillary Taymour, will confirm her proposal of environmental awareness with the show from a garden on a terrace in Brooklyn.
For her part, fashion designer LaQuan Smith will present her collection at the Empire State Building on Thursday night, and the day will culminate with shows from Moschino, Sergio Hudson and Carolina Herrera.
Fashion Week will close on Sunday with shows from big names like Tory Burch, Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford.
Also on the calendar are Liberian-American Telfar Clemens, whose vegan leather handbags have caused a sensation, and Peter Do, the young designer now participating in his first Fashion Week.
