Japanese fashion designer Takeshi Osumi died at age 47 after suffering sepsis on January 24, Page Six reported.
Sepsis is inflammation caused by chemicals released into the bloodstream to fight infection.
“It is with great sadness that we come to you with this news. We also deeply thank you for your kindness over the years," a representative of the famous reported on Instagram.
The designer was one of the two creatives behind the urban robbery firm Mistergentleman, which was the one that reported his death.
“As for future plans, we will present the MISTERGENTLEMAN Fall-Winter 2021 and 2022 Collection, which Osumi was working on at the hospital until shortly before his death, at Tokyo Fashion Week in March, in memory of his death," the message continued.
Osumi, who went by the nickname “Big-O,” has run several labels, including Swagger and Phenomenon, as well as Mistergentleman, the latter of which he founded with Yuichi Yoshii in 2012.
