RUNWAYSCopenhagen Fashion Week has begun to leave the first summer trends of next year with good news: many are familiar (and may even be in the closet)

When it comes to trends in general and spring 2022 trends in particular, expectations are high. They are so because if style changes are usually asked for a certain exciting novelty, to the fashion that is defining the end of 2021 and the start of next year, even more: there are not a few who find a way of expression in aesthetics. and evasion. In this way, it is not surprising that the discourse of spring 2022 trends runs through vibrant colors, unexpected combinations and surprising cuts. There is a desire for something crazy. And all this has been observed in the proposals of the brands that have paraded at Copenhagen Fashion Week, but there has also been room for a few other more continuous trends, so much so, that perhaps they already have in the closet. But far from being disappointing, that can be a reason for joy: it means that the change towards slower seasons and longer and smarter investments is happening. These are some of them:

soft knit dresses

The point is a classic in the wardrobe, but one that after the enormous time that has been spent at home and the search for comfort also outside it, has become an absolute essential. The dress format has been outlined as inescapable (the fewer pieces, the less you have to think about) and that is why many firms have included them in their references. The best? That here too there is room for innovation according to fabric thickness and shape. For example, Ganni has opted for an almost sheer fabric and a fitted pattern; Baum und Pferdgarten, for a shirt version. However, By Malene Birger has been the brand that has included them more and better, emphasizing the languid lines.

the XL suits

They're another wardrobe staple that's been revitalized in this day and age due to their newfound status as an (unexpected) symbol of optimism. Their formality means that their natural habitat is social contexts, both leisure and work, so that the fact of including them in the collections is a display of encouragement on the part of the designers. In winter they will be seen in all shapes and sizes, but from Copenhagen the bet is to increase their measurements to XL, especially in blazers, as can be seen in those of Rodebjer, Baum und Pferdgarten, Ganni or Stine Goya.

the color boxes

As a counterpoint to the two continuous trends, one is presented that can be considered an evolution of both the checkerboard pattern and the lilac Vichy checks. The ways of interpreting it are very different between the firms mentioned, but it is possible to find both more restrained approaches of dark tones and black lines or other more colorful ones, such as the oranges and grays of Baum und Pferdgarten or the multicolor and XL of Stine Goya.
