Make-up
It's rare that makeup grabs more headlines than runway looks. But in the case of the Chanel show for this spring-summer 2022, it is like that. Although Carlota Casiraghi has triumphed on the catwalk galloping with her horse, let's talk about the unexpected makeup that everyone talks about.
It seems that Carlota Casiraghi has captured all eyes at Chanel's fashion show for next season, riding her horse and wearing a black tweed jacket with sequins. However, as a beauty editor, my eyes have gone to the makeup of the models on the runway. And it is that some mannequins wore quite powerful black make-up eyes and some of them with one of the eyes painted in the form of an "animal" stain that have been quite disconcerting to our eyes.
Regardless of the interpretation that each one of us can make of this unexpected make-up, what is clear is that the designer Virginie Viard has left nothing to chance and has generated an emotional impact that has provoked endless opinions as the new creative director of Chanel.
Large smoky eyes
We have asked Iván Gómez, the firm's official make-up artist, who has revealed to us what Chanel wants to tell us with his make-up proposal for this spring-summer 2022 and that, without a doubt, is a declaration of intent. Apparently the trend both in the parade and in the beauty look, the firm is committed to "more strident makeup than usual, with intense eye shadows in multiple textures" says the make up artist.
And on this occasion "the peculiarity of the creation is symmetry, which is a real liberation (by the way) for both make-up artists and make-up consumers" he points out. And the main focus of attention for this one is on the eyes; "in one of them, we find a circular smokey eye of enormous dimension reaching to the eyebrows and almost to the cheeks and in the other, a block shadow with a horizontal direction and ending in a peak together with an open lower eyeliner to rip the look" Gomez sentence.
In short, a much freer and more artistic conception of beauty that he represents, a breath of fresh air and an invitation to experimentation.
