The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has presented this Friday, within the framework of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the next edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida, which will be held from October 21 to 24 at the Expomeloneras site in Maspalomas ( Gran Canaria).
"The Cabildo's commitment to the fashion and design industry has allowed Gran Canaria Swim Week By Moda Cálida to continue for 25 years, the only event in Europe in its category, and to consolidate its position as an international benchmark in fashion bathroom", the Corporation has indicated.
This objective of consolidation has been "reinforcing itself in recent years as one of the great bastions of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria". Thus, he adds, this new call will be a special edition framed in the celebration of its 25th anniversary, whose main commitment continues to be promoting the catwalk internationally and reinforcing its position as a key event of its kind within the European catwalk circuit. Along with this, there is also the challenge of promoting the professionalization of the catwalk, something that is achieved with the incorporation of renowned names of Canarian, national and international design into its program.
Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida will bring together in this edition nearly 40 designers and brands, of which 11 are Canarian –from Gran Canaria and other islands of the archipelago-; 10 from the peninsula, and six international.
The Cabildo has indicated that the full calendar of participants for this 2021 edition will be announced soon, among which the incorporation of renowned designers such as Aurelia Gil, Palmas, Guillermina Baeza, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada or Melisa Odabash, has been confirmed. among others.
Kerem Bürsin, the most international face of the GCSW by MC
Precisely to take the GCSWM brand around the world and reinforce the international image of Gran Canaria as a tourist destination, the catwalk will feature in this edition the presence as ambassador of the Turkish actor Kerem Bürsin, star of the series Love is in the Air, who will contribute to promoting the Island and the design of swimwear.
The event in Madrid was presented by Minerva Alonso Santana, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, together with Eduardo López-Puertas, General Director of IFEMA MADRID, and Nuria de Miguel, Director of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Warm Fashion.
During the act, the Councilor of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria highlighted that the Corporation is very proud of the "importance that this catwalk represents for having managed to maintain the ambition of gaining space in the international market, giving prominence and visibility to fashion swimwear and the great designers who have helped to consolidate Gran Canaria Swim Week as a benchmark event on the international calendar.”
Likewise, he pointed out that "it constitutes a milestone in his career and a new turning point in the projection of the catwalk" when he turns 25. For this reason, he added, this edition will be a "key" edition for the Moda Cálida project, promoted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria.
Eduardo López-Puertas, general director of IFEMA MADRID, has highlighted the opportunity for collaboration offered by the alliance established between the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and IFEMA MADRID, and wanted to thank the entity for its commitment and its common commitment to fashion “Now more than ever, collaboration between institutions takes on greater significance due to the need to add assets that contribute to consolidating the internationalization and professionalization objectives set by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria as a priority to raise the level of the catwalk and consolidate it as the great benchmark international swimwear design”.
Regarding the selection of designers and brands present at Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida 2021, Nuria de Miguel has given some of the keys to the edition, and has highlighted the wide selection of participating brands: “The selection of brands invited in This edition has been carried out following criteria of quality, prestige and projection. In total, more than a dozen designers have been selected by the Fashion Committee, which has notably raised the level of participation, reaching almost 40 participating brands". The director of the catwalk has also revealed some names of designers and firms consecrated that will present their Spring-Summer 2022 novelties on the Canarian catwalk, and has highlighted the organization's firm commitment to the internationalization and professionalization of the event.
Let's Swim Together Charity Parade
For the first time, coinciding with International Breast Cancer Day, the Let's Swim Together parade will be held, which aims to show collections adapted to the consequences that this disease has on women's bodies, as well as to launch a message of hope and positivity. In addition, the parade will have a charitable character with the aim of supporting this cause, the commitment to research and its prevention. For this reason, all proceeds from ticket sales will go 50% to the Spanish Association Against Cancer, and the Canarian Association against Breast and Gynecological Cancer. Women who have already experienced this disease will parade on the catwalk. They will be in charge of showing a selection of designs from different brands specially created for those who have overcome interventions related to breast cancer, such as mastectomy.
