The great festival of Spanish cinema, the Goya gala, is also the great festival of fashion, and all those involved are aware of the What is in game. Aitana has surprised with a new look on the red carpet at the Goya Awards and has swept her Versace, Hiba Abouk has left us breathless and Marta Nieto has been one of the best dressed. The virtual photocall has been for Rozalén, Milena Smit and Natalia de Molina.
In recent years there has been a huge leap in the Goyas, and the level of firms that dress the stars is at the level of the great red carpets in Hollywood, Cannes or Venice. This is an atypical gala and the red catwalk is too. This year the actresses and actors have posed in Malaga but also in their homes, a combination that we have already seen in events such as the Golden Globes. Spanish fashion is gaining more and more weight and there are many firms that want to dress the nominees and guests.
Aitana was the most anticipated guest at the 2021 Goya Awards. She has chosen a Versace design to stomp on her first time on the red carpet and she saved us a very special performance, with a classic that Antonio Banderas has requested: Happy Days Are Here Again, by Barbra Streisand.
Aitana has shone on stage with an exclusive design by Mans Concept, Jaime Álvarez's firm. It is a design specially made for her: a dress with a pattern of a jacket that falls to the ground and opens on her leg and also leaves her back bare.
Hiba Abouk looks stunning in the pink Giambattista Valli gown as she made her stunning red carpet entrance.
Like a classic Hollywood diva, Nathy Peluso wears the dress of her dreams, and has participated in the design: "One day I was having dinner and I sketched it, I drew it, I imagined the circular movements that fall through the female body, You send it... I'm very happy because it has strength but at the same time it's very classic, I'm proud". During her performance, the singer changed into a silver satin model with orchids. Just as cinematic.
Penélope Cruz talks about her Goya dress
Penelope Cruz bets on Chanel again: The actress from Madrid has worn a design from the Métiers d'arts line from the 2020-21 collection, a dress with a strapless neckline, in black and decorated with embroidery and chains.
The firm Otrura, specialized in tailoring, has been in charge of Rozalén's suit, a marvel at the level of the Goya winner, made up of a double-breasted tuxedo jacket and daring pants that open on the side. Candela Peña and Marta Eutura wore two very different dresses, but both by the same designer, Jorge Redondo, creative director of Redondo Brand. Keep an eye on this young designer!
Marta Nieto was the best dressed of the night, for various reasons. Her Alberta Ferretti design is sensational but she also has a knack for wearing couture designs and she is one of our classiest and most glamorous actresses. Her catwalk dress is marvelous with a black fantasy bodice with a tulle ruffled neckline and crystal embroidery forming bands on the bodice and cascading crystals falling all over the skirt. On her feet, a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes and the jewelry is by Grassy.
They, the actors, have invested heavily in fashion and we have seen different versions of the star piece: the tuxedo. David Verdaguer and Javier Cámara have chosen two designs by Pedro del Hierro. Chema del Barco, Roberto Álamo and Tristán Ulloa have dazzled with the García Madrid costumes. Verdaguer wears a gray tuxedo with a peak lapel and Cámara has opted for the classic black, with a double-breasted jacket. Jon Kortajarena is an ambassador for Tom Ford, with whom he worked on the film A Single Man, and has worn a tuxedo from the American designer.
Natalia Verbeke goes beyond the conventional and opts for a young and fresh look with an Oscar de la Renta dress from the 2021 resort collection, Bulgari jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes. She is a pageant dress, tinted in green, black and white and printed with flowers in the same tones.
Dior, Chanel, Carolina Herrera, Nina Ricci, Giorgio Armani... The most fabulous dresses from the catwalks of Milan, Paris and New York have landed in Malaga to enhance the glamor of our actresses. Among them, Angela Molina. The winner of the Goya de Honor has dazzled with an Armani Privé couture design, in black and with flashes of gold, and shoes by an illustrious Spaniard, Manolo Blahnik. The jewels are from the Bárcena house, which has finished off the looks of actresses such as Candela Peña and Patricia López Arnaiz and the presenter Elena Sánchez
Giorgio Armani, the favorite designer of Hollywood stars, has also dressed Emma Suárez, who has worn an XXL tailor, in black, a design worn by Charlize Theron.
Maggie Civantos has caused a sensation with her huge makeover. The actress has left behind her blonde hair and has changed to her brown tone. It is the first time she has attended the Goya gala and she has made a big commitment with a couture design by Roberto Cavalli, a long-sleeved jewel-dress that leaves the back uncovered. Chaumet jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes have completed her look.
Belén Cuesta, star of Sentimental, has turned to the Carolina Herrera house, which we can say is Spanish since it is controlled by the Puig group, like Nina Ricci, Jean Paul Gaultier and Paco Rabanne, among other firms. Her dress is sober but with a sensual touch, accentuating her bare shoulders with puffed sleeves and a midi skirt. Her jewelry has attracted attention: retro Hollywood 50s style earrings and two rings, one in the 30s Art Deco style and the other in the 40s Chevalier style. All from the Valladolid house Del Páramo.
Natalia de Molina, nominated for her work in Las niñas, has been one of the first to make her appearance on the virtual red carpet. She is wearing an exclusive design by Juan Carlos Pajares, consisting of a jacket that lengthens and ends in a train, and wide trousers with a double found pleat. “We wanted to create a contemporary look for a virtual red carpet”, says the designer, who has mixed sophistication with a sporty air to find the exact touch for the actress.
Milena Smit has worked with the same stylist as Natalia, Freddy Alonso, and after sweeping her risky look at the Feroz Awards, she has opted for the elegance of Givenchy. She crowns this golden design with padlocks and through makeup adds her particular personal stamp: animal, fierce and magnetic, a combination that has earned her a Goya Award nomination for her work in You Will Not Kill, which she stars alongside Mario Casas.
Fernando Valdivieso has dared with a Moschino suit and has devastated. Just like Álvaro Cervantes in his pale Salvatore Ferragamo suit. The singer Alejandro Sanz has decided on a Hugo Boss tuxedo, a groundbreaking design, in a Bordeaux tone, with black lapels.
Dior has dressed Amaya Aberasturi and Oscar de la Renta has dressed Patricia López Arnaiz. Paz Vega has opted for the haute couture of George Hobeika and with jewels from the Bárcena house
Marisa Paredes has a close relationship with fashion. Her name is linked to Sybilla's but now she has found a good ally in Juan Duyos. For the gala, she has worn a catwalk design made up of an organza trapeze coat with metallic threads and silk fringes in black and aubergine.
The actress completes the look with a black silk tulle skirt and a black bodice that is cinched with a champagne-toned leather belt. Eye-catching are her shoes, a model from the Camper house with an 'intelligent' heel.
And from one Almodóvar girl to another: María Barranco. The actress swept a year ago with a dress from the Pertegaz house and that is why she has once again trusted her creative director, Jorge Vázquez. It is a gazar dress printed with flowers, which is draped at the waist with a huge bow and has a cape skirt. A runway design, from the fall and winter 2021 collection.
After sweeping the Feroz Awards, Veneno actress Daniela Santiago returns to take over the red carpet in a black and wine print dress.
Vanesa Martín, another of the singers of the night, has opted for Alicia Rueda for the red carpet and in her performance she has changed to white to remember those who are no longer with us in a solemn and respectful in memoriam.
The winner Pilar Palomero wears a crêpe dress with an off-the-shoulders neckline and cut-outs at the waist that end in a pleat forming a skirt with a Pedro del Hierro silhouette. Paula Palacios, nominated for the documentary Cartas mojadas, wears the same Spanish firm, with a high-waisted jumpsuit in black velvet with glitter details.
Nathalie Poza, the best supporting actress of these Goyas, is in Bilbao representing 'Prostitution' and from there she has entered by videoconference to be part of the gala. The actress is wearing an asymmetric design in white, silver and yellow lining from the Nina Ricci house from the spring and summer 2021 collection, jewelery from the Spanish house Rabat and shoes from Pura López. Natalia, Maggie, Belén and Nathalie have had the help of José Juan Rodríguez and Paco Casado, two of the most experienced stylists at this gala.
Marta Etura, who in 2010 received her Goya for Best Actress for Celda 211, poses in a beautiful red dress and jewelry by Suárez.
Also in red and with pants is the great Elena Irureta, who is presenting the award for best European film.
Pronovias has been in charge of the costumes for María Casado, who is presenting the gala together with Antonio Banderas.
Najwa Nimri wears the most original mask of the night and once again bets on Spanish fashion with a design by Loewe.
Adrián Lastra leaves his black tuxedo at home and takes note of the Golden Globes: he opts for a suit with an animal print in military colors, with black lapels and gold details.
From dressing Barbie to the Goya gala. Cristina Rodríguez, responsible for Explota Explota's costumes, has worn the most interesting dress. And it has a lot of history behind it. The costume designer and stylist has asked some colleagues for help, something unusual, and has relied on the talent of José Juan Rodríguez and Paco Casado to find the perfect look. And who has done it? Well, it is signed by a student of the stylists, named Oscar Peña, who makes dresses for Barbie. The headdress is by Betto García.
