The provincial president, Carmela Silva, had committed to this action at the inauguration of the urbanization on the street of the health center and the Civil Guard barracks. It consists of the construction of a roundabout in the surroundings of the municipal cemetery and the Parque das Pedrosas, with the aim of regulating traffic in a safe way. In this way, not only is circulation regulated to make it easier for traffic to change direction, but also security is achieved for people who approach the cemetery and the park.
The Provincial Council will create a path around it to separate pedestrian and vehicle traffic. In this way, the provincial road will be provided with a safe and spacious space, with 2.5-meter-wide sidewalks, for the comfort of pedestrians and to also adapt to current accessibility standards. This intervention and the provision of elevated pedestrian crossings, already executed in a previous action, will allow the elimination of the metal walkway through which people currently have to circulate to cross the road. This flyover remains closed to traffic.
Through these works, which Marconsa undertakes, the Diputación will undertake the installation of traffic calming elements, the renovation of lighting and the rainwater collection system, the paving of the road, the repositioning of signaling elements, both vertical and horizontal, to adapt them to the new characteristics of the track and the implementation of speed-reducing elements. This is a work included in the plan to improve mobility and road safety on provincial roads.
