By Zoe Ruffner

It's hard to pick out the best beauty products of 2021: There have been a staggering number of launches in this multi-billion dollar industry in the last 12 months alone, including palettes, scrubs, lip liner, fillers and kits, not to mention Celebrity Brand Premieres: Naomi Osaka! Jennifer Lopez and Harry Styles, to name a few.

Of course, such a wealth of options means there's something for everyone (seriously, everyone: Thanks to the rise of bespoke beauty offerings like custom cosmetic sets from Prose and Function of Beauty, customers can create their own bespoke formulas), but this also means that separating the good from the best is now more difficult.

Victoria Beckham Beauty Future Lash Mascara

Honestly, I've never seen a mascara that stays on as well as this: brilliant, volumising, never smudges or smudges! scale! Pro tip: If you want more strength, use as a sealing coat over your favorite volumizing formula.

Hermès Rose Hermès Rosy Lip Enhancer

Moisturizing yet slightly matte, this Hermès lipstick is a universal enhancer. It adds a touch of life to any lipstick, and its transparent finish offers a mistake-proof use. It is always in my bag, both day and night.

Gucci Eyeshadow Palette - Beauté des Yeux Floral

A gorgeous mix of satin and not-so-shimmery metallic, these Gucci shadows are so luscious and soft that no matter what combination you choose, they create the ultimate sense of sophistication. The soft blue shade stands out the most, but it's not the only reason to covet this gorgeous palette.

Opte Precision Skincare System

The Opte device scans the face to intuitively find any hyperpigmentation, depositing makeup only where it needs coverage. The result is an ultra-natural and even complexion. Plus, it targets dark spots with blurring ingredients like niacinamide and vitamin C, lightening them over time. It's a somewhat expensive two-in-one device, but I always think it's wise to invest in the face, since it's the first thing people see.

James Pecis, Hair Expert

Oribe Très Set Structuring Spray

Oribe Très Set has been the essential base for most of my work [this year]. It's a spray mousse that I apply to my hair to create looks with definition, fullness and shine. It's the ultimate backstage product.

PureGLO Natural Beech Princess brush without handle

Top 18 Beauty Products of 2021 according to the experts

I'm a big fan of what PureGLO is doing with brushes and combs. My favorite is the Natural Beech Princess Hair Brush without a handle. It is a must for anyone with children, fine hair, or sensitive scalps. I love it because it detangles quickly without breaking and, most importantly, it is not made of plastic.

In Fiore Fleur Vibrante Serum Cerate

I have a love/hate relationship with oils: sometimes they feel great, and other times they just feel too greasy and dirty. This hybrid balm/oil has an amazing smell and a vibrant yellow color, thanks to sea buckthorn oil, which contains all the omega fatty acids you look for in an oil.

It also contains carrot and calendula oil to protect the skin from the environment and UV rays, so it's basically a shield of protection for your face. I love that it's in a tiny tube - you can take it everywhere and you only need a little. I use it as the last step in my routine, but it can also be used as a serum.

Jordan Samuel Skin The Matinee Cream Cleanser

This has become my favorite cleanser; I use it in the morning and as a second cleanser at night. Sometimes if I get a little lazy I use it twice at night. It has a great texture, never leaves my face bare, and is fragrance free. It has slime in it, which gives it an extra kick that other cleansers don't. I really love this line because [Jordan Samuel's] products are always consistent, and the price is reasonable. I often recommend your cleansers to my clients.

Augustinus Bader, Scalp Treatment

I suffer from eczema and sometimes have a dry and itchy scalp. I started using this treatment and I have to say my scalp is much happier. The serum contains TFC8, patented by Bader, which helps tissue repair through stem cell technology. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we try to find the root of problems, and this serum literally treats hair and scalp problems from the root. It also contains botanical extracts of maca root, hazelnut leaf, watercress, and Indian watercress, the latter two helping keratin production. It is not greasy, it is very easy to use after washing your hair and it is fragrance-free, a great advantage. Also, the brand is committed to using FSC-certified and sustainable packaging, which I really appreciate.

K18 Molecular Repair Leave-In Hair Mask

Everyone should use hair masks. It is so important. It's like giving your hair a much-needed, highly personalized facial. A salon favorite is the K18 Molecular Repair Leave-in Hair Mask, which uses the brand's revolutionary patented K18 peptide. It is ideal for keeping hair healthy and strong. I specifically recommend this mask for anyone who bleaches or dyes their hair or frequently uses heat. You only have to let it act for four minutes to achieve spectacular softness and smoothness.

R+Co BLEU Sleep Masque Night Repair

The luxurious Sleep Masque Night Repair is one of my go-to products of 2021, and I'm sure it will be all the rage and become a cult product in 2022. It originated from the capsule collection R+Co BLEU haute couture, vetted by the industry's top hair artists for the perfect, innovative and sustainable formulas. Sleep Masque Night Repair is the first bottle you should use. Healthy hair provides colorists with a solid foundation to work from for the best final color result, and this mask leaves hair strong and shiny thanks to innovative ingredients like green caviar.

Blonde Solutions Liquid Toner

Blonde Solutions Semi-Permanent Conditioning Toning Mask is a fun new product that's easy to try at home. You can choose any shade you want to enhance your blonde color between salon visits, or you can even mix shades to experiment with non-permanent colors and shades.

Daphne Javitch, Holistic Nutritionist

Moon Juice Ting Supplement

When it comes to supplements, I'm picky and minimalist, but Ting is the exception! I love this new energy booster (vitamin B complex and ginseng) from Moon Juice. Also, I appreciate that you encourage people to start their day with a tall glass of water, since it's a powder that mixes [with liquid].

Betina Goldstein the Manicurist

Chanel Le Vernis at 911 Terre Brûlée

Chanel's highly pigmented reddish nail polish strikes the perfect balance of rich red undertones and brown undertones with depth and sophistication.

Doublemoss Arte Primero Brush Set

Stylish and durable, these are the first ever nail art brushes made from solid brass, which not only resists corrosion from [acetone and alcohol] use, but also adds the perfect weight for optimal stability and precision. The screw caps protect the high-quality vegan bristles, which can be used with both normal and gel polishes.

Costa Brasil Sol Body Oil

I don't normally like shiny products, but this oil won me over with its subtle, sensual scent that leaves skin with a hydrated glow and sophisticated. Applying it after a shower in cooler weather transports me back to the sun and the vacation feeling. I travel with it everywhere, as it serves as both a sensual perfume and a luminous moisturizer for the skin.

Natureofthings Scalp & Body Gloss

I love this scalp and body product to create a hammam-like scrub at home. Invigorating cinnamon oil and Moroccan lava clay, combined with olive and argan oils, exfoliate without drying the skin, and Nature of Things products never fail to impress me with their olfactory design. I like to use the scrub with a Keesa mitt in the shower, but to really feel like a hammam, it's best if you invite someone over to share the experience.

Lyma Laser

Be prepared for some initial shock, but before you dismiss this device because of its price, know that it will save you in the long run. The Lyma Laser is the world's first clinical grade laser made universally safe and accessible through patented lens technology. It is profoundly effective, while being extremely safe for all skin types and tones.

Lyma's patented technology is 100 times more powerful than popular home LED fixtures. While most in-clinic IPL and laser treatments (which I still love) can be alternated with this head-to-toe device without the need for appointments. Plus, it's easy to handle and compact for travel.
