'Meraki'is a Greek word that means doing something passionately by putting all your soul and heart into it. 'Meraki'is also the name and concept of the collection that Asturian designer Maria Lafuente presented last night in the 'off' section of the Mercedes-Benz fashion Week.

Through the most important gateway in the country, he defiled an explosive mixture of innovation, sustainability, art and sorority that filled the stage with color, flowers, petals, butterflies, African prints, volumes and organic patterns, 'moulage' and architectural patterns.

The designs proposed for the 2022 spring-summer season abound the pink, carnation orange and tile colors combined with the indispensable white. The prints and the paint round the chromatic proposal of the Asturian, which has used in its manufacture tulle, African handicraft cotton and tencel fabrics of Textil Santanderina, certified with PEFC. In addition, he employed craftsmanship of crochet pieces, and, as has become customary in Lafuente style, also materials such as recycled tyres and plastic bottles.

The source made 'Meraki' 'with passion and love' and squeezed his creativity, but the concept 'goes beyond the passion to act. He invites us to live a dynamic and poetic life where even the smallest gestures of everyday life become synonyms of life lived, "he explained.

Puntadas dadas «con pasión» para promover el talento en África

The commitment of the firm to build a free world, to seek the union of people in their diversity and to realize the peace and happiness of the human race is maintained. All of María Lafuente's productions are timeless and are manufactured only on request and in limited editions to respect the planet. The garments of 'Meraki', in particular, have been made in workshops of women artisans to dignify the value of people. And this time the Asturian collaborates with the NGO Harambee with the aim of promoting the development of the talent of African women, improving their opportunities for education, personal, social and cultural growth.

Asturian 'curvy' model

The makeup of the models that looked like the designs took on special importance in yesterday's parade. The firm's creative makeup director, Úrsula García, highlighted the attitudinal factor of the 'meraki' language through light watercolors that transformed the eyes into unfathomable galaxies. The fluorescent orange lips reflect the differential factor that generates good communication. The Dni School team was commissioned to prepare the models. Japanese artist Maasaki Hasegawa and Toom Pak's music put the cherry on a parade in which Asturian 'curvy' model Eva Maria Pérez Llano participated. "we still Don't see great designers counting on us for their parades," he said.

The Lafuente parade closed a day in which Teresa Helbig, Pertegaz, Roberto Torretta, Hannibal Laguna and Dolores Cortés, among others, participated.
