(Spanish CNN) - Hello, Manolos! How about, Jimmy Choo!Welcome, Louboutins!

So long without seeing them! But I don't know if I still love you or not.I don't know about you, but my high heels have been sleeping for more than a year.Total forgetfulness! And when I recently began to dust off his boxes, I realized that since the first days of the pandemic I did not use them. And when I tried them, how uncomfortable I found them and I could hardly walk with them!I will have to - little by little - get used to them.

This reminded me of the debut, many years ago, of the model Claudia Schiffer on the Chanel catwalk, in Paris, and how journalists made us funny because the German young woman did not know how to walk with the heels she was wearing! And I also felt: a little staggering and clumsy, trying my beloved stilettos, which I took away instantly, asking me the question: "Will we use high heels again?"

Although in 2020 - according to instyle.com and the Glossy Statistics Company - high heels sales in the United States fell by 71%, things seem to be changing in 2021.

"Both designers and consumers, the consensus is that the return of high heels is imminent and safe," says Footwearnees.com.In which publications and experts of the fashion industry agree - like The New York Times, Yahoo.com, vogue.com and the consultants Sidney Morgan-Petro, of WGSN and Beth Goldstein-since there is a tendency to dress again with more elegance and high style.

And my own prediction is that - once - the use of sneakers or sneakers will remain for sports occasions or relax moments, and with those beautiful dresses or stylish sets we will use heels!Of greater or lesser height, closed or sandals style, but heels that give a more proportionate and more stylized look to the figure. And according to Morgan-Petro, "the high heels have their time again".

I hate (and I can affirm it with resounding sincerity) See a nice dress taken with those horrible sneakers or rough sports shoes, just like rubber shoes such as crocs or aggressive military ankle boots, Doc Martens style. When a young girl takes them - like the Gigi Hadid model, who uses many sneakers - is a more mona and acceptable image, but I think that when that style is a more mature woman the result, as I see it, it is frankly little aesthetic and absurd. Is comforting better to look pretty? Not in my opinion, and not in this case!

Interestingly, the Internet searches of "high heels" indicate a new interest in them, especially those of "dress" heels for graduations, weddings and formal events. And Manolo Blahnik, whose stilettos - manolos - were the madness of Carrie Bradshaw and the stars of "Sex and the City", feels such confidence in his return that he has just opened boutiques in East Hampton (the one I visited a few days ago) and MadisonAvenue, in Manhattan.

He told The New York Times my good friend Blahnik, "women can't live without their high heels".In elegant stores such as Saks - according to a seller at the Fifth Avenue branch - they are selling new heels of 4 and 5 inches (approximately 10 to 12 centimeters), the specialty of brands such as Christian Louboutin, Aquazzura and Jimmy Choo.

Y aunque los precios de las zapatillas deportivas –diseños de Dolce & Gabbana, Vuitton o Jimmy Choo (¡con diamantes!), etc.- They are still stratospheric, just as high are those of the heels, those who, after agreeing with sellers with whom I spoke in Macy’s - had come down in the last year!

Whatever the opinions on the subject, there is no doubt that there is a desire to regain customs and a more optimistic and more cheerful lifestyle.A desire to what we were - and who were - before the many sad months and months of confinement and tragedies. It is almost an exercise in survival! And something so frivolo and everyday, as a couple of shoes, is part of that "return" to our lives.

And for many to see Walking with the strong step of its stilettos to Kamala Harris, the vice president of the United States, is proof of that!
