MEXICO CITY (EL UNIVERSAL) .- Without the presence of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, this Monday the parade of the first five candidates, of 25 who were registered as general secretary of the Petroleum Workers Union, began at the National Palace. Mexican Republic (STPRM).

The head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), Luisa María Alcalde Luján, was in charge of leading the presentation of the applicants, who had five minutes to present their work plan.

In the Treasury room of the National Palace, the first to present his project was Luis Ricardo Aldana Prieto, current treasurer of the union and accused of being part of the group of former leader Carlos Romero Deschamps, who stated that if he manages the union, he will guarantee transparency .

In his work plan, Aldana Prieto affirmed that he will seek to improve the quality of life of workers and their families; defend the Collective Bargaining Agreement; increase labor productivity; and have a new operating model for the office of the General Secretariat

“We are going for a new Pemex and we are going for a new organization, with an absolute way of working that gives us the guarantee and that gives them the guarantees that we are going to make absolutely all the work of our union organization transparent,” he promised.

After him, María Cristina Alonso García, an oil worker from section 34 of Villahermosa, Tabasco, took the floor, who immediately attacked Ricardo Aldana whom she accused of taking advantage of his position in the union like other commissioners. who betrayed Mexico and the oil tankers, they are traitors,” he said.

Alonso García pointed out that Aldana's work project is camouflaged to give continuity to the corruption of Carlos Romero Deschamps, since "they try to deceive the workers and then continue with the subjugation of the bases."

"Traitors who destroyed the main pillar of the Mexican revolution, which is our oil," said the applicant. She assured that it represents the "generational change" so it will guarantee union transparency and meet labor demands.

With Bible in hand, Daniel Aranda Padilla promised to work "under the fear of God."

Aranda Padilla accused that in the oil industry there has never been a true accountability of characters like Ricardo Aldana, whom he accused of having luxurious houses and vehicles.

"Everything has been robbery, looting, enrichment, many of them to put it in the nose, to take it in drinks and with women, unfortunately they have not been able to carry the achievements that our companions truly deserve," he said.

Victoria Arredondo Lami, who belongs to section 31, promised to defend the worker and his rights.

“Without personal revenge, without hatred, without persecution, without violence, all for the right and reason, we oil workers want a free union, to be free to decide our leaders, a union cannot be free if its workers and the union They are kidnapped and blackmailed by a group of people who only see their personal interests and not those of the workers," he said.

The last to present his work project was José Luis Cabrera Raga, who, visibly nervous, reported that he comes from an oil family with 26 years working at Pemex and that he dreamed of being a candidate for general secretary. He proposed that the Mexican workers who are in the Deer Park refinery, in Texas, United States, have dual nationality, in addition to creating new jobs.

“First of all, I thank God, I ask him to take control of my life, amen (…) I dream of safeguarding the health of temporary workers, plant workers, retirees and their families, we have a good medical service, but health will always be a priority. I dream of improving benefits with bonuses so that workers can buy school supplies, shoes (...)”.

"There are many things that I dream of, but I say goodbye saying that I am a human being, that I have made mistakes, that I respect the right to liberty, equality, and natural resources."
