On the streets there will be joy and music from the Bourbon Street bands, which will play every day, with authentic sounds of New Orleans, and street performers from Universal Studios.

Mardi Gras is synonymous with extravagant parades, and Universal's are always highly anticipated. This year there will be six new themed floats, inspired by the parade theme, which will be “Planet Mardi Gras”, and will feature elements such as comets, rockets and aliens. These will be joined by others already traditional to the event, such as the “King Gator”, a giant crocodile almost 50 feet long, which always attracts attention. From each of them the colorful necklaces are launched, purple, blue and gold, among other shades, which cannot be missing in any Mardi Gras.

It is important to note that this year, the parade, which runs through the streets of the park, will not be held daily, but also on select dates.

There is no Mardi Gras without food with southern flavors, and Universal Orlando has done an excellent job of this over the years, presenting authentic dishes from the American South, but with flavors from elsewhere recently added of the world. Dining options include classic New Orleans Crawfish Boil and Beignets, but also Southeast Asian Coconut Curry Shrimp Laksa (a sweet and spicy shrimp noodle soup) and vegan samosa with spicy green chutney from India and salchipapas(popular street food made with chorizo and potatoes) from Central America.

To try several of these dishes and some of the typical drinks, which are also exclusive to the event, the park will sell a card, “Mardi Gras Food and Beverage”, with which you can save some dollars. In some of the restaurants in CityWalk, its entertainment and food district, and in some of its hotels, there will be food themed for the celebration.
