The pedestrian and cycling path will reach the border with the municipality of Redondela

Updated at 05:00 h.WhatsappMailFacebookTwitterComment ·On Saturday traffic will be cut on Vía Norte, between Gregorio Fernández and José Otero streets, in order to facilitate the installation work of a 51-meter-long footbridge that It will link Vía Norte with Vialia and the green path that runs along the old railway tracks. The forecast is that traffic will recover normally on Sunday.
The second phase of the green path has a budget of three million euros and will be equipped with rest areas, viewpoints, children's play areas and bio-healthy areas for the elderly. It will be a pedestrian and bike path. The first section of the greenway, about half a kilometer long, was opened two years ago and the City Council will now complete the route up to the city limit with Redondela, also providing it with a connection to the center through the street Navarre and the Vía Norte.
With the greenway, the City Council intends to recover the old surface train route as a pedestrian and cycling path, from the station to the neighboring municipality of Redondela. The project from Vigo preserves part of the railway origin, maintaining the signaling, sections of the rails and other elements, such as the catenary, where the lighting will be installed.
One of the objectives is to provide the new path with different access and exit points along the entire itinerary. Thus, in addition to the entrance through the Vía Norte footbridge, the City Council will place a ramp, at the level of Buenos Aires street, one hundred and fifty meters long and will open other connections with Coutadas, Xuncal, Camiño da Via, Camino da Ferrería, Avenida de Galicia, Párroco don Serafín, Camiño Cascalleira and Camiño das Ánimas.
