A constant of those with fine hair is often the search for any kind of trick, real or visual, to make it look like it has more volume.
And what hairstyle to do to fine hair is one of those great tricks of the almendruco, because the chosen updo or loose one can do a lot to end that feeling of sparse or lackluster hair -which is not reality, but it is the appearance-.
Before delving into the subject of hairstyles, the hairdresser María Baras, from the Cheska salon -who has been styling national celebrities for more than 50 years-, reminds us of the importance of having a good cut on fine hair, because it will also influence the type of hair styling chosen.
"If you have fine hair, you may not be able to afford to have it very long [the weight 'pulls' it down and leaves it licked], or 'whole' either. The best thing in these cases is to cut some layers , but not of those losses that what they do is the opposite, but some layers that I call invisible, "says Baras.
And what is an invisibility cloak? "They go inside, give body and do not take away the feeling of having a good amount of hair at the end. They serve to give volume and texture, which is very important when it comes to doing certain up-dos, such as a ponytail," says the expert.
Loose hair? Yes, but with broken waves
You can wear loose hair with volume if you have fine hair, but María Baras recommends avoiding straight hair, since in these cases it is more difficult to add body to the hair. On the contrary, "soft, juicy, big waves help to give volume and texture; the more broken and textured the hair is, the better," says the hairstylist.
To get them at home without much effort -yes, you can-, Baras lists the step by step:
High bows or top buns, winners
They have been seen a lot and, as Baras says, they will continue to be seen: bows are also good friends for fine hair.
The hairdresser proposes two options:
In either case, Baras insists on the importance of texturing with a spray, before picking up.
Semi-collected or half buns, the middle term with the most saltiness
Another great hairstyle that works to simulate volume are the semi-collected topped with a high bow, a bit like the idea of a top bun but leaving part of the hair loose. The hair that remains uncollected "ruffles well, and that's it," suggests María Baras.
And you don't have to have very long hair: Baras defends that semi-updos with a high bun work very well on bob or midi length hair, in those that don't reach a ponytail or full bow.
Oh! "It is also a very handy style when you have bangs and they are already very long: it is gathered up, with a little more hair, very tight in a bun, and the rest is loose," explains the hairdresser.
And, of course, the ponytails
We never tire of saying that the ponytail always works, in all types of hair, heads, ages and situations. And María Baras reiterates this idea.
"The unstructured ponytail, even with a few loose locks, is valid for all fine hair, from very long to short, short ponytails are being seen a lot," she recalls.
A ponytail cleans up, streamlines, and can be polished or messy, and it will always work.
