Mayor of SDE inaugurates Academy of design, sewing and Art to be led by Martin Polanco
El Ayuntamiento Santo Domingo Este (ASDE) y la Fundación Nacional de Arte y Diseño Caribeño, que dirige el afamado diseñador dominicano Martín Polanco, inauguraron la primera academia de diseño, costura y arte del cabildo en ese municipio.
The function of the academy will be to train the community in the areas of design, sewing, sewing and clothing, as well as in arts and crafts.
The participants will be trained in the specialties of couture, tailoring, dressmaking, apparel, bisuterias and the making of fine international touchmarks. The courses will last for two and a half years.
A press release reports that the training academy was equipped with 30 modern state-of-the-art sewing machines, working or cutting tables, air conditioning and office equipment.
The aim will be to attract about 90 talents from the different sectors of the municipality, who will receive the teaching from Monday to Saturday, in three modules.
The new design academy will be run by the internationally renowned designer and the courses will be taught by a team of fashion professionals.
Polanco said the goal is to train future designers for the fashion industry.

Mayor Manuel Jiménez highlighted that in Santo Domingo Este they took a step forward with the installation of the first fashion school of international touch.
"this is the first academy of about 30 that we are going to install in our municipality, and in the coming months, musical instruments factories and a drill shop will be installed, the municipal executive announced.
The first group will receive training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 8: 00 a.m. to 12: 00 noon and from 2: 00 to 6: 00 p.m.; the second, Tuesday and Thursday, at the same time and also on Saturdays from 8: 00 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m. At the end of the cycle participants will receive their diplomas as specialists in couture, dressmaker, tailor and fashion design.
