Portugal Fashion SS22 returns to Porto with the most diverse and vindictive fashion of the spring summer 2022 season.

Normality is imposing itself in life and in fashion. The return of parades with the public proves it. And we verified it in the latest edition of Portugal Fashion SS22. An event with parades of brands of Portuguese origin, plus the participation of African firms as guests. Together they made the streets vibrate and returned the magic to fashion.

During four intense days of fashion at Alfândega do Porto (Oporto Customs Congress Center), more than 50 brands showed their creations based on sustainability, diversity and responsible consumption. They all had the same message, to make fashion for today's society and, as a consequence, to encourage an ecological purchase. A total of 35 fashion shows and 15 presentations were held with the public. And like all Fashion Weeks, they also had online live shows for people who could not physically be at the 49th Portugal Fashion SS22.

David Catalán, Hugo Costa, Unflower, María Gambina or Anissa Aida have dazzled the entire audience. The clothing, the color range, the fabrics or the textures are some of the features that always stand out in Portugal, and this year too. As a highlight of the new edition, the guests to parade were African brands under the CANEX (Creative Africa Nexus) program. Platform that arises from the alliance between ANJE (National Association of Young Entrepreneurs), Portugal Fashion and Afreximbank. The aim is to promote and spread the African clothing textile industry in the Portuguese country.

David Catalan in Portugal Fashion SS22

MADRE SS22 was the collection presented in another edition of David Catalán in Portugal. He has been living in Porto for many years, although he never forgets his origins and sometimes returns to Spain to show his new ideas. In the presented line, all oriented to men's fashion, he showed how he sees the man of 2022 based on vichy prints and colors that remind of a sunset with nuances of uncertainty. The most repeated accessory was the bucket hat in different shades.

AHCOR in Portugal Fashion SS22

Portugal Fashion SS22, la explosión del diseño luso

Whether or not you know this brand, it's a good time to keep it on the trend radar. AHCOR presented MARÉ SS22 in Portugal. The firm's designs are aimed at a woman who wants to express strength and provoke movement. The color palette is so wide that we cannot stay with base tones. The designer shows that a garment can be a good canvas. The volume in both the balloon effect blouses and the long skirts was the most notable feature.

Maria Gambina in Portugal Fashion SS22

Furadouro SS22, that is the name of the line presented by Maria Gambina. The designer recognized in Portugal for her way of understanding design, once again did not disappoint. Both for the fluidity of the dresses, the striped pattern, the use of white or the combination of accessories that are reminiscent of the 1990s. We cannot miss the typical pattern of pottery from Portugal on sweatshirts or pants.

Anissa Aida in Portugal Fashion SS22

One of the invited African fashion firms was ANISSA AIDA. Her designs are a journey through countries as exotic and inspiring as Japan or Tunisia. A detail that did not go unnoticed was the makeup. The designer used blue or white lines to show inequality and equity. For both men and women, this firm used loose garments with sustainable fabrics. All designs frame a constant journey.

Alexandra Moura in Portugal Fashion SS22

The transgression, darkness and rebellion arrived with the designs of Alexandra Moura. From the first design to the last, she saw how fashion can be a discourse and a way of claiming a place for the new generations. Black, brown, white or navy blue are the bases of the Moura line. Again we saw that comfort prevails in jackets, pants or wide vests.

Hugo Costa in Portugal Fashion SS22

One of the most anticipated parades in this edition was that of Hugo Costa. He dresses both men and women, without gender differences, that is, there is no distinction when it comes to haircuts. You will be able to see a clear inspiration from Axel Rose and Guns N' Roses. We loved the avant-garde style elements, and in this way he represents what he thinks is Glam Rock. If you want to know more about this designer, you will have the opportunity to find out more on October 26 when he arrives at Portugal Fashion in Madrid.

Unflower in Portugal Fashion SS22

The name of the firm already gives a clue, and before revealing how the parade went, it should be noted that Unflower does slow fashion. The two designers are inspired by the art and beauty that flowers convey. His collection presented in the light of day, shone like poppies when dawn begins. The firm returns to the essence of the nineties through caps, mesh fabrics and low-rise pants. Everything is designed and produced in Portugal.

Carolina Sobral in Portugal Fashion SS22

Carolina Sobral garments are very easy to read, as they exude comfort and functionality. The brand understands that society changes and in this way it adapts to the new consumer who is asking for simple fashion, but without losing the essence of the industry. Dresses, light pieces and soft tones such as ecru or beige come together in a collection that conveys serenity and energy.

Susana Bettencourt in Portugal Fashion

The craft arrived with Susana Bettencourt. All made by hand, you can not miss the difficult, but impeccable technique of crochet. Whether in tops, shorts, puff sleeves added to loose shirts or mini dresses, crochet was the main actor. The designer plays with red, beige and marine prints, a very complicated combination that this time has a successful result.

Estelita Mendonça in Portugal Fashion SS22

All of Estelita Mendonça's creations reflected a search for normalized identity. Among the designs presented, work clothes with a point of reflection and uniformity, are the most important identities of the firm and its new proposal for SS22. Printed silhouettes add a unique touch, where the graphic and neon tone are normalized.
