Art is for interior decoration like a good bag or shoes in fashion, the accessory that turns a normal 'look' into one full of personality. The idea is that he is able to stand out and contribute his dose of style, even when they do not share the same style. Thus, a work of art that a priori does not fit on the wall of the living room sofa will look ideal if you make it the queen of the space and make all eyes, due to size, color or theme, turn towards it. If you have recently acquired a special piece (it is the new investment model) and you want to discover another way to integrate it into your rooms, these 10 decoration ideas can inspire you.
1. Without prejudice
Get out of your head the idea that work and house should share a style: it doesn't have to be like that. An abstract painting can be integrated into a classic decoration or an old one finds its place in a modern one if you leave room for it to breathe and it is not a 'deco' load, but the piece that balances the whole. In this atmosphere of Dustandsoul (the online art gallery where you can find special pieces at a good price), both works (the one on the wall and the one on the floor) coexist in peace and harmony, respecting both each other and the room.

2. From ceiling to floor
We always talk about the possibilities of the verticality of the walls as an extra place to store and to take advantage of every free centimeter. However, this time, we reverse the rules and turn the floor into the perfect place for our art collection. In this HAY proposal they have been placed in a corner near the living room, to receive natural light, and have been left on the pavement as if they were passing through. A good idea to avoid reducing light is to use a white mount, like here. The side table with the sculpture completes the set and draws the eye to the lower part of the space.

3. On a piece of furniture
Sometimes you just have to look for good support so that art finds its own space in the house and looks at us face to face, as in this project by the Red Deer studio where an original painting almost rests (it is hung a few centimeters from the piece of furniture) on a yellow cabinet. The effect is further enhanced with dark blue walls. You can place a single work, as here, or intersperse several of different sizes creating a harmonious composition. As in everything, seek balance and clear the chosen surface of foreign 'elements'.

4. Only on the wall of the sofa
The wall of the sofa is one of the most common places to hang your paintings and get it right, although by default we usually choose an XL one. In this J-Line environment, two things draw our attention: the work itself and its size, small to 'crown' the sofa. However, the result works because the painting, extravagant and fun, does not go unnoticed and gives personality to a classic corner, and because it is strategically placed between the moldings, to adjust its dimensions. In any case, if you have doubts, remember that on this wall, whether it is one or several, it is important that they do not protrude from the sides, that they are centered and that the center is at eye level.

5. Filling the walls
This project by Garmendia Cordero Arquitectos, which converts a Renaissance church into a design house, makes art one of the main pillars of decoration. To achieve this, she uses the walls as a large blank canvas where she can create different compositions, which, however, are part of a whole. From the ascent of the stairs, to the living room on the ground floor or the bedroom on the upper floor, without forgetting the kitchen where a portrait with a gold frame 'rests' on a shelf, away from the fire area. If you want to copy his style, you shouldn't have a problem with meters, since this option only works in large open spaces.

6. With frames and crazy
Although modern works are usually framed and prefer nudity so as not to detract from their prominence, we break a spear in their favor and want them for our wall in different sizes. Of course, the key to giving us a break is to use the same model and color, at most a mix of black and white, play with the way they are placed and introduce some disparate element without a frame, as in this proposal by Jonathan Adler. By the way, as the rules are, from time to time, to break them, try to combine paintings of different styles and themes and let yourself be carried away by the high of the eclectic. Hooks up!

7. In perfect symmetry
To create an original composition, it is not always necessary to skip the basic rules of integrating art at home in a natural way, but it is enough to follow them to the letter, as in this Photolini proposal, where a composition of place has been created perfect, thanks to the symmetry. Thus, the paintings share size and frame and play with the black and white binomial, seasoned with a touch of pink in one of them. For it to work visually, you must either create a figure (a square or a rectangle, for example) or establish the same distance between them, respecting the 'paths'.

8. All over the house
Even in unexpected places or that you can overlook. The living room, the bedroom or the hall are the usual rooms to show off your latest acquisition. However, the corridor, the bathroom or the kitchen can be a good option, as long as they do not interfere with the activity that takes place in them. In this proposal by Carrillo Proyectos, a kind of walkway is created that marks your steps towards the side of the house you want to go to. As always, light is key, but not decisive to place a painting in a long corridor.

9. Three by three
And I shoot because it touches me. Although in a couple three is a crowd, in decoration it is the perfect number for (almost) everything, since we perceive compositions with three or odd elements to be more attractive, without forgetting that they are more balanced and dynamic. In addition, it is the mantra for all those who have recently discovered interior decoration and are still beginners. The rule of three or odd numbers is perfect when it comes to combining colours, furniture in a corner, objects on a piece, materials or, as in this environment by AMPM x La Redoute, paintings. Here, one has been given prominence and they have been placed at different heights, so that they complement and balance each other at the same time.

10. Size 'XL'
Put a large painting (or two) and you will not need anything else, since these give the wall all the prominence to the detriment of the rest of the decorative objects and provide the dose of character and personality that you need to raise the 'deco' level of the stay. For it to work stylistically speaking, you need a space without meter problems, although it does not have to be extra large, and a good location, such as that provided by the wall of the sofa or the headboard. In addition to XL, the works in this project by K2LD Architects are in striking colors, so they stand out against the dark chromatic base of the walls and furniture.

11. On a Pedestal
And alone in the face of danger. If before we verified that the union (and filling the house with paintings) is strong, now we bet on a single piece as a guest star. To do this, a good idea is to put it on a pedestal, forget that only busts can have that honor, and let it shine alone. Of course, you will need it to be as special as this one by Lorna Smith, one of the artists who will be present at the I Edition of Pop Up Art, which will be held in Madrid from January 20 to 30.
